How fast and accurate are the tools?
Audio & video to text
Measured on an older Intel laptop, an Apple M1 and a PC without a graphics card, in Chrome, Edge and Safari (October 2026).
Accuracy
Share of words wrong on clear English speech. Lower is better.
| Quality | Words wrong |
|---|---|
| Fast | 5–10% |
| Balanced | 4–5% |
| High | 3–4% |
| Best | 2% |
Spanish: 15% with Balanced, 7–8% with High. Noisy rooms, accents and people talking over each other give more errors.
Speed
How long a 1-hour recording took, with the quality the tool picked for that machine:
| Machine | 1-hour recording |
|---|---|
| Apple M1 | 9 minutes |
| PC without a graphics card | 15 minutes |
| 2019 Intel laptop, running hot | 28 minutes |
Tips
- Keep the tab in front. Browsers slow down background tabs a lot.
- Plug in your laptop. On battery, older laptops slow down.
Video tools
Measured on three kinds of computer in October 2026.
A one-minute 1080p phone video, compressed to 25 MB
| Computer | Time | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 2019 Intel MacBook, Chrome | 17 s | 24.0 MB |
| Apple M1, Chrome | 19 s | 22.4 MB |
| PC without a graphics card, Edge | 38 s | 22.7 MB |
| Apple M1, Safari | 60 s | 22.5 MB |
At 25 MB the result looked practically the same as the original at normal viewing size.
Other results
- Big files: a 2.35 GB, 10-minute 4K film compressed to 25 MB in 6–8 minutes.
- MP3: the sound of a one-minute video was ready in 1–3 seconds.
- Plays everywhere: every result played in Chrome, Edge, Safari and QuickTime.
Tips
- Keep the tab in front. Browsers slow down background tabs.
- Trim first. A shorter clip compresses to a much sharper result.
