How it works

Audio & video to text

Your recordings are turned into text on your own computer. They are never uploaded.

Your files stay on your device

The file is read and transcribed inside this browser tab. Our speech engine downloads once, the first time you use the tool. It is 44–566 MB depending on the quality and has nothing to do with the size of your files, which can be any length.

The right quality for your device

The tool checks what your device can handle and picks the most accurate quality that still runs at a good speed. If it gets slower, for example on battery, it switches to a lighter quality so your file still finishes. You can also pick the quality yourself.

Check it yourself

Use the tool once so the speech engine is downloaded, then switch off your internet and transcribe another file. It still works, because nothing needs to leave your computer.

Video tools

Your video is processed by your own computer and saved back to it. It is never uploaded.

Your files stay on your device

The video is read straight from your disk, a little at a time, so even a file of several gigabytes works. The result is saved back to your computer as a normal download.

The size you asked for

When you pick an exact size, the tool checks the finished file before you download it. If it cannot get under your size, it tells you instead of handing you a file that will be rejected.

Phone videos look right

iPhones and many Android phones record HDR video, which looks grey and washed out on ordinary screens after most conversions. The tool adjusts the colours so the result looks right everywhere.

Check it yourself

Load the page, then switch off your internet and compress a video. For most videos it keeps working, because nothing needs to leave your computer.
