Compress a video to under 100 MB
For long videos: 100 MB keeps a three-minute 1080p video close to full sharpness, and fits a 20-minute talk at about 360p.

Quick answer: To compress a video to under 100 MB, drop the file into the tool at the top of this page and press "Compress video". iLoveAudioVideo does the work in your browser, so the file is never uploaded. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no file size limit.

- DownloadPreview the result, then save it. Exact sizes are checked before you download.
How long a video fits in 100 MB
Picture sizes the tool picks for a 1080p phone video (≈ means about; soft means visibly blurry):
| Length | With sound | No sound |
|---|---|---|
| 2 min | 1080p | 1080p |
| 3 min | ≈980p | ≈1000p |
| 5 min | ≈750p | ≈770p |
| 10 min | ≈520p | ≈550p |
| 20 min | ≈360p | ≈380p |
| 30 min | ≈290p, soft | ≈310p, soft |
Talks, lectures and screen recordings have little movement, so they look better at these sizes than sport or gaming footage.
Big originals are fine
Your video is read straight from your disk, a little at a time, so a file of several gigabytes works. In our tests a 2.35 GB, 10-minute 4K film compressed to 25 MB in 6–8 minutes on ordinary laptops. Keep the tab open and in front while it works.
Measured, not promised
From our tests on a 2019 Intel MacBook, an Apple M1 and a Windows PC without a graphics card. See all results.
Why your video never leaves your computer
Online video tools upload your file to their servers, process it there, and send it back. That is slow for big videos and costs them money for every minute, so free plans cap your file size or add watermarks, and your video sits on someone else's computer.
Here your own computer does the work, inside this tab. Nothing is uploaded, so there is nothing to cap: no file size limit, no daily limit and no watermark.
Questions
Why does Windows show 95 MB?
Windows counts sizes in steps of 1,024, so 100,000,000 bytes shows as about 95 MB there and 100 MB on a Mac. It is the same file and fits a 100 MB limit.
Is it faster than an online compressor?
Usually, for big files: nothing has to be uploaded first. A one-minute 1080p video took 13–19 seconds in Chrome on the laptops we tested.
Is it really free?
Yes. Your computer does the work, so a video costs us nothing to process. No account, no watermark, no limits.
Is my video uploaded?
No. It is processed inside this browser tab and saved straight back to your computer.
Which browsers work?
Recent Chrome, Edge and Safari on a computer. Chrome and Edge are fastest on most machines. Phones work for short videos.
How long does it take?
In Chrome, a one-minute 1080p video took 13–19 seconds on the laptops we tested and about 40 seconds on a computer without a graphics chip. Safari can be slower.
Can I close the tab while it works?
Keep the tab open and in front until it finishes. Browsers slow down background tabs.
