Reverse audio online

Play a recording backwards, from its last moment to its first. A song, a voice or a sound effect, made on your own computer and never uploaded.

Quick answer: To reverse audio, drop the sound file into the tool at the top of this page and press "Reverse audio". The sound is saved as an MP3 that plays from the last moment to the first. A video works too: you get its sound, reversed. It happens in your browser, so the file is never uploaded. It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

How it works

  1. Drop your soundMP3, M4A, WAV, OGG and more, or a video to use its sound. It stays on your computer.
  2. Pick the part, if you want oneThe whole recording is reversed unless you set a start and end. About 35 minutes of stereo sound fits at once.
  3. Download the MP3Choose the MP3 quality, then save the reversed sound.

What people reverse sound for

  • Sound design: a reversed cymbal or piano chord makes a rising swell that leads into a beat.
  • Hidden messages: play a song or a voice backwards to hear what it sounds like that way round, or to check a "message" someone says is hidden in it.
  • Singing and speech: hear a phrase backwards, then practise saying it that way and reverse your own recording again to hear how it comes out.
  • Reversing twice: reverse the result once more and you get the original order back.

Reversing a part of a recording

The tool reverses the stretch between the start and end you set. Up to about 35 minutes of stereo sound is reversed at once (mono sound fits twice as long). For a longer recording, reverse it in parts. To cut the part out first, use the audio cutter.

Sound only, or the whole video?

Drop a video and you get just its sound, reversed, as an MP3. To play the picture backwards as well, use reverse video.

Why your audio never leaves your computer

Your audio is converted by your own computer, inside this tab, and never uploaded. That is why there is no length limit and no sign-up. How it works.
