Where WMA files come from
CDs ripped with Windows Media Player and recordings made on old Windows PCs are often WMA. Many players on other systems do not open them.
Protected WMA files
Some old WMA music was sold with copy protection, and a protected file may not open here. Files you ripped or recorded yourself are not protected.
Pick the quality
WMA is already compressed, so the MP3 cannot add detail that is not there. "Very good" suits speech and most music; our one-minute WMA of 1.0 MB became a 1.4 MB MP3. Pick "Best" for music you care about.
