Louder, or standard loudness?
- Make it louder raises the sound by the amount you pick: 200% doubles its level. Use it for one quiet file.
- Standard loudness measures the whole file first, then raises or lowers it to a set level, the same for every file you do. Use it to even out several recordings so that none is much quieter than the others.
In both, loud peaks are held back, so a big boost does not crackle or distort. Standard loudness takes a little longer than a boost, because the file is measured first.
A quiet voice note
Voice notes sent on WhatsApp and similar apps are often recorded quietly. Save the voice note to your computer, drop it here, choose "Make it louder" at 300% and listen to the result. You get an MP3 that plays anywhere. A very quiet recording also has some background hiss, and the hiss gets louder along with the voice: if it is too much, go down to 200%.
A quiet video
Drop a video here and you get its sound, made louder, as an MP3. To put it back under the picture, use replace the audio in a video with the original video and the new MP3.
Do you need an AI tool to make audio louder?
No. Making a recording louder, or bringing it to a standard loudness, is a measured calculation, not a guess, so no AI is involved. It also does not remove noise or make a mumbled voice clearer, and no tool can make a recording better than what was recorded. Many online tools upload your file to a server first; this one runs on your computer and the file stays there.

Timed on 21 Oct 2026 in Chrome on a 2019 Intel MacBook (an older laptop) with a one-minute recording of spoken sound. Newer computers are faster; real files vary. More results.

How much louder can I make it?
Up to ten times as loud (1000%). Start with 200% and listen; raise it if it is still too quiet.
What is normalising audio?
Setting a file to a standard loudness. Choose "Standard loudness" and the file is raised or lowered to the same level as any other file you do the same way.
Will it distort?
Loud peaks are held back, so a boost does not crackle. A very large boost still raises background noise along with the voice.
Is my file uploaded?
